Measuring my air/fuel mixture...

How/where do I test the air fuel mixture of my carb. I don't think it's right... I don't wanna mess with the floats, and I sure as hell don't wanna rebuild the damn thing...

Will autozone test that **** for free?

if you are carbed, then you donot haev an air sensor.. you would need to weld one of those in before you could even use an air/fuel gauge

Did we ever decide where the best place was to stick the EGT sensor? Also what was the temp range needed on the gauge?

mike.. yup, that is all that it takes as far as i know..

asemaster: if you have headers, then you want to drill a hole in one of them, probably a half inch to an inch from the engine. i donot remember off hand what range is necessary, i just know that the gauge has to go higher than piston engines need.

superphly. both a/f and egt gauges can be mounted inside your car. egt will give you a more accurate (or usuable) reading bit is more expensive.. a/f will give you a good light show, but is only useful on a small interval

riffraff I have an A/F gauge right now in my 12a. Works perfectly...the EGT has too slow of a reading from what I read. Good only for dynos and stuff. I say the best tool is the A/F gauge. I am using a non-heated O2 sensor and you have to wait like a 2 minutes to get accurate reading from it...but it's worth it.

look on ebay for a bosch platinum tip o2 sensor part number 11025 ,
i picked mine up for $16.00 shipped,

you can get one from your local auto parts store for $25.00 - $30.00

get the "weld in bung" from summit
not for sure on part number,
do a search on their site for "bung"
i bought the cheapest one

as for the gauge,
well thats up to you,

i mounted my bung right before the presilencer,at the furthest point back on the header, pointing toward the driver side

this allows the exhaust gases to fully mix so you get an acurate reading from both chambers, and still keeps it close enough to the engine to get the o2 hot quick

mperformace.. the problem with a/f gauges is that they are accurate in only a really small range. only when you are going all out (top of your power ban)
