measuring bumper shock springs

how do you check to make sure the springs in the bumper shocks are up to spec? I cant get the housing off...

Did you remove the bumper shocks? I dont think theres a spring in there. I believe its a crush cartridge. One shot deal. If its not collapsed, I think that means its good.
