The Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook?

Would anyone recomend it for someone who is pretty new to rotary engines and a lot of things in general. I mean I am not totaly new to engines and things (i am 19) but I never really had the chance to work on any cars that much and It's been a passion of mine to do so if I ever had the money and information to teach me how to do things. I was just looking at http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda1.htm and saw this book on there so whats the word on this? eh? ney?

This step-by-step guide explains how to transform each model into your perfect sports car, while remaining within your budget.

So I imagine it has a lot of pictures and step by step tutorials on doing a lot of things to your car right? I mean this site here is great for information but If this has pictures and tutorials ect and is all in one book it could probably teach me a lot and help me learn how to do things on my car, well I hope so atleast. I am just asking if anyone can give me a forsure answer on how the book is before I buy it.

no step by step ****, buy a factory service manuel if you want a book for repairs. performance book tells you stuff like hp increases with certain mods, what parts interchange, advantages/ dis to mods, importance of suspension, tires, brakes, ect.
i guess you could get all the info by asking questions, doing searches on here but it is a good book to just read and learn about 7's with.

It is not an instruction book but contains some good general information on Mazda cars and engines. It describes options for tuning but not how to do them.

As said earlier on this thread, the best starting point is buying a workshop manual, a bit complex but they give step by step instructions.

This forum is about the only place where you get info on how to actually make modifications and tune your car. A good example was the recent thread on fitting a front mounted oil cooler.

1. Learn what is needed for each service, then teach yourself how to do it.
2. Learn how to install bolt on modifications.
3. Try some suspension upgrades.
4. Buy an old engine and the tools, learn to rebuild it that way you will always
have a daily driver

Decent book. I probably wasn't going to buy it but I got it as a gift. Some interesting tidbits here and there but no step by steps. If nothing else, it's got a bunch of pictures to look at!

Out of interest there is a review of some books on RX-7s at www.geocities.com/jeffguilfoil/bookreview.html. It includes a brief review of the Performance Handbook. I found it listed in a 2 gen thread on the Handbook where the general view was it was useful but at times inaccurate.

There are also other books around and I am trying to build up a full list as the first step in establishing a reference library.

If you know of any please let me know.

There are also numerous websites around which have scanned books and articles, a good example is www.iluvmyrx7.com.

Every thing you want to know about Gen 1s is out there, if you just search!
