Is Mazda the only place I can purchase CHOKE cable?

I need a choke cable for 85 GS...I'm guessing Mazda is the only place for that?
Autopart stores around here don't show anything.
Thanks

Mazda dealer, or perhaps MazdaTrix and black dragon, would be about the only sources for a new cable, but be prepared to have sticker shock.
Unlike most choke cables, these have an electro-magnet assembly made onto them, which holds the choke engaged until the engine warms up.
You should be able to locate a good used cable by posting in the for sale/want to buy section, as trochoid suggested.

First question I should have asked is why do you need a new one? If the choke is not staying out on it's when the engine is cold, check the thermosensor on the backside of the waterpump housing. If it's not plugged in or the wires are broken, the choke will not stay out on it's own during warmup.

I've kept my eye on the sales section for about a week now.

I need the choke cable because the cable broke and there is no fixing that.

I have checked w/the only two local junk yards by phone Friday and they have nothing...the other junk yard which would probably have one I am not allowed there anymore...Kenny(that runs the place and compulsive liar sold me a borg Warner 5-speed that was supposed to be freshly rebuilt and it **** on me after 2 weeks, his argument was that my 415hp 350(Z-28) was to blame...It metastasized into me almost going to jail(just thought I'd tell that story one more time).

I do not know if a 79' will fit or not?

So in other words I'm gonna pay dearly? great!

I'll check into the 79' thing...Is it in good shape?
And I'll also be checking around and place a "Want/need" in the sales section.

The for sale section isn't only for selling parts, you can also ask for parts. Post a wtb and see what comes up.

they're listing part #1979-1980 as "60-050A-8868"
and listing part #1981-1985 as "60-050A-8871"
So I'll have to check around and see what the diffence is first.

If you don't get any hits on your wtb, I'll look around, I may have a spare. Or PM Midwest7s, he has lots of spare parts and is good to deal with.

I edited my last post, I tend to write too much...and my wife says I talk too much but she's a bitch so that doesn't really count, lol.
Anyway I will stay in touch and I may PM Midwest7's too, thanks.

I think I have one. I'll look a soon as I can. Unfortunately I'm leaving for Alaska tomorrow and won't be back until late Friday.

I have one I would ship to you, and I have a neighbor who will certainly have one or more. $20 plus shipping. I have owned a lot of 1st gen RX-7s, never heard of a choke cable failing. I would not be concerned about getting a used one, but I would lubricate it before installation.
