This may sound stupid.........

I know this sounds messed up but is it possible my engine is street ported even though I have a stock intake/carb setup, rats nest, smog pump, and exaust manifold?.....The guy I bought the car from dosent know **** about RX-7's But the guy he bought it from owned several......I dont think my car is that fast but I have smoked a few stock 2nd gens and ran w/ a pretty much stock TII....I dont know....I just want to know if its possible my car is ported even though I dont have the mods normally associated w/ a port job

Was the stock TII running ok? Was he really racing you? I just ask because my sp 12A doesn't come close to keeping up with my buddies lightly modded TII (for reference, he's actually dead even with my other buddies stock '02 Z28). It is entirely possible that you have a ported motor, but the guy you bought it from should have known about it from the guy he bought it from - it's one of the things you mention when you're trying to sell a car.

Yeah thats what I say, was he really racing you, or just sandbaggin, I find it hard to believe someone in a t2 would get smoked by a SP 12A. Not to mention someone not removing all the crap off the motor after spending that on a port job, but thats my opinion.

I bought the car from a "crackhead" w/ a yard full of cars for $800....He couldnt tell me **** about the car...I tracked down the guy that owned it before him but there was a major language barrier...But he had like 3 1st gens And a couple of 2nd gens in the lot....BTW...As far as I know me and the TII were going at it.....All he has for mods is a FMIC,a couple of crane fireballs, and a boost control

Even if it is ported you'll barely gain any horsepower because of the stock intake and exhaust. The only way it would keep up with even a stock T2 is if there's something wrong with it or the driver.

Especially if he has a FMIC and a boost controller for it... I rode in a car like that the stock turbo runs pretty good when you get it over 8 psi

I say that you should take it down to your local drag strip and give it a run or two.
