LOL I have no idea but it sure made a lot of noise. There were a lot of other "real" cars at the Maryland BBQ so I didn't get a chance to talk to the dude that brought it. Ask around he is probably on the forums either here or NP. Here is a shot of it from the front, the hood is opened forward:

I just wanna know what he does with it? It's no rock crawler, and theres not enough clearance for mud bogging nor the tires for it. What does it do other than get stares at carshows and sound loud? lol

Starting back up on this soon...

Side tracked. and lack of $$ kept me away for a little while.

I'll be hacking on it some more in the next few days.

hi,

looks like an interesting project.

I'm a newbie here, but do a lot of 4+4 - had to reply to poster saying suzuki transfer cases are weak and fail with sj engines so no good for more power. These cases hardly ever fail in normal use and people are running V6 and V8 engines on them so stock rotary torque really isnt going to kill it. I break a few suzukis here in UK and never sold a transfer case to someone whose broken one, just a few folk building up different ratio boxes to swap in.

obviously your using mazda box anyway but someone building SJ rotary might be put off ! (I'm building one now BTW)

Amen. I had my sami with 6:1 crawler gears on Dana 44s running 4.3L vortec and couldnt kill the transfer case if I tried. I only toasted the stock birfields that is why I changed to the Dana 44s. So if your toasting transfer cases you either 1. dont know what you are talking about or 2. dont know how to mount one and are binding it up. Not that any of this has sh#t to do with RX-7s
Just my .02

Ditto to Darkcyde. My brother got a Suzuki Sidekick sometime late last year, welded the rear end, ran 33x12.50" tires, and pretty much beat that thing all to **** on the trail, and not a thing broke. Well, the fuel filter got clogged, but that was the worst of it :P

However, he sold it before the end of the year and now the guy he sold it to [both my brother and the buyer are on the zuwharrie.com forums] is putting a 12A in it.

And as for the "1st gear is too low", that wouldn't matter with 2 tcases back to back, would it? In 4lo, it would have a fairly decent crawl ratio, so the 1st gear ratio wouldn't make much of a difference.

Any more progress on the 4x4? Sounds like a sweet project.

My first love has (and always will be) 4x4s. The rx7 is just a cheap fun daily driver for me, since my truck isn't really street legal anymore.
