Yeah, the switches exist that have the temp probe that fits into the upper rad hose. I got mine second hand so I don't know where you get the switches, but I know they exist, so you should be able to find some info on them at your local car parts stores.
I know in the US, you guys have plenty of parts stores!

Pivot makes a fully automatic fan controller capable of running dual fans independantly to maintain a preset temp.It reduces wild temp fluctuation when the fans kick on and off. Also doubles as a digital water and oil temp gauge.Pretty slick little unit,I use one on my 84.
Before that,I just drilled and tapped the back of my thermostat housing for a standard Honda fan sensor.Used a generic relay to activate the fans.Worked great for years and only cost a few bucks since it was all "five finger" small stuff from PickNPull :-)
Most sensors wont run the current needed to operate a fan. They just provide the signal to close/open a relay,so be prepared to do a little bit of wiring and fusing.

Sure seems to be.It can run off the factory sender, but they recommend using their sender for more accurate readings.I put the Pivot sender in the stock location in the back of the engine and put my stock temp gauge's sender in the thermostat housing for a "max outlet temp" reading.
The best part is it can be programmed to turn on/off at any temp, and the digital read it easy to glance view.
Little silver box in the right vent.....

i have the flex-a-lite adjustable thermostat(the one that installs in the hose) on my car and i wasnt happy about the install, it just wouldnt seal right so i had to use silicone. when i get a chance im going to get the one that mounts in the fins of the radiator or the one that steve is talking about.

heres some of the accessories from FAL. a friend of mine has the adjustable like that and its awesome(if i had only known before i bought mine).
Lots more info here... https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/e-fan-questions-446340/
Use a 3.8 l ford 2 speed taurus fan. I wire the siwtch thru a relay so it's always on when the engine is running. The you can get a temp prope that penetrates between the rad fins to engage the high speed fan.
