Hi all:

I have a 90 Miata steering wheel with airbag and was wondering if it would fit into my 85 GS? I could always remove the bag, but was wondering if there are any fitment issues? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Yes it will bolt right in. But the air bag won't work and it is possible that it might blow up in your face. The NA35 air bags are known to blow up from just sitting.

 

would there be anyway of getting around the airbag?, maybe i way to seal it off our remove it without ruining the front?

 

you can unbolt the air bag then you have an ugly steering wheel. if you set it off then the whole assembly is toast anyway. just put it in and hope you don't hit any bumps... FYI I am not responsible for anything that happens to you or your vehicle.

 

i've had an airbag deploy and its no fun. id just like a steering wheel a little more "updated" looking.
