rats nest removal first, after a tune up, of course. make sure there's no autolite plugs anywhere near it.

you can find parts easy enough, if you know where to look. By rats nest he means all that smog **** on top of the engine, its nicknamed the rats nest. The other types of LSD's are viscous, which uses a thick fluid to create friction between plates that are close together. Another type is a torsen, like miatas have, it uses some kind of system of worm gears that lock together, the exact workings of it escape me. the clutch type isn't the smoothest, but can (typically) handle more abuse, like drifting etc. good luck, any more questions you can pm me, or im me: "ta rx7"

oh ok ... thanks for the info ... is it possible to put in a turbo or even trim turbo on the 12a engine or would i have to change to the 13b engine. also i don't have any power steering on my car ... do you think that i should have it added or would it just be a waste of weight consider that the car is light enough to be steered without p/s

I would advise against power steering. It's not that hard to steer without it. Although I have one in my garage with power steering (only fb I've ever seen with it) and it is nice.

screw power steering, the car is light enough not to need it. What do you mean by "trim turbo"? And yes you can turbocharge a 12a, but theres no bolt on kit like you'd find for a civic or other newer car, its all custom stuff. Judging by the comments you've made here I would conclude you don't yet possess the skills to do such a project properly. I'd suggest starting out with supsension or some other project thats a "bolt on" type thing to get some experience and then think about the turbo. I may be way off on this, but it just seems like you're new to cars in general. A good free flowing exhaust (like racing beat) will do wonders for power on a 12a, consider that. good luck

i meant "twin" turbo ... i dunno where i got the trim from haha ... anyways ... i do have some experience working in on cars ... but not a whole lot like alot of people out there .... as for the custom stuff ... i'll be able to do that kind of stuff ... i worked 3 years as a machinist doing custom things, i think that i'll be able to handle doing custom hookups.

ah ok, twin makes more sense. As for the 12a turbo, theres a coupe guys on here with nice setups, maybe they will respond as well. iirc they are using the 13bt turbo manifold and modifying it to fit the 12a, then using an aftermarket carb that can accept boost (i forget which one) and custom making any brackets, pipes, etc they may need. If you have the ability then do it, anything to give a first gen more power is worth it imo.
