Low Revs

So we just got this 1984 rx7 GS running but now it wont idle when its cold and when it does idle (when warmed up) it idles at like 250rpm (right on the bold red line right above the 0 on the tach). Once it is warm (after probably a minute or so of holding the revs up around 2500) it idles smooth and constantly at 250.

The car had been sitting for 6 months before we got it started but it runs fine when warm and doesnt smoke at all

Is this something I should worry about and if so what could be causing it.

When it warm its idles really smooth. when its just started it idles smoothly as well but it tends to just cut out when the rpms are dropping after the initial fire. Its got brand new sparks, new gas, and a new air filter too.

How would one go about doing a compression check?
