low on power
hmm, lately my 7 has been actin quite sluggish. i did the ususal tune up (sparkies, fuel filter, etc) and that dtidn't fix it. the car still has the torque ( i get a second gear scratch) but it just doesn't pull like it used to, unless i push the gas pedal down as hard as i can. sometimes it wakes up at this point, others it doesn't. ordinarily i would attribute this to differences in atmospheric pressure, but i get inconsistant results daily..
any ideas on whats going on?

maybe the carb just needs a good rebuild. After 20 years everything can wear out. My car was really sluggish until i replaced my carb with a new one. The fuel filter, spark plugs, and wires was a good start. The only other thing i would say to check is maybe compression just to make sure and timing. Although timing usually doesnt change by itself.
If you have a clogged cat, the car will seem sluggish due to little exhaust velocity.
Your question was a little too vague.

Chedda_j is on the right track.
I recommend getting a can of seafoam and putting it in the fuel.
It is possible you have some clogging of the jets going on. Also I would run a fuel volume test to make sure you have good volume.
If you have the stock exhaust it is possible that the main cat is partially clogged.
Although you would feel a big difference if the secondary linkage popped off of the carb I recommend checking it also.
Check the connections at the ignitors and clean as needed.
And it is always good to perform an occassional compression test just to keep tabs on the engine.

Sounds to me like your secondaries are not working properly. I had sorta the same problem. I would have to pump it a few times to get them to open and then they were not opening all the way. I opted to do the mechanical secondaries and it fixed the problem.
If you don't notice a good power increase between 1/2 way down and fully down or only notice the power sometimes I'd say secondaries. Anyhow, something worth checking.

The first thing I would do (since it should be done anyway) is set the timing correctly and verify that you have spark on both leading and trailing ignition. Other than that, all of the other advice would be next on the list. Good luck, and keep us posted on the results.
1 can Seafoam + 1/8 tank of gas = Zoom Zoom Zoom!
