lots of work to do...

So I finally figured out what I had to do to get my 7 started after flooding the **** out of her. I was driving around the block, and one of the neighbors (the only cool gearhead in my neighborhood) flagged me down. Apparently his parents used to have a FB with dual webber's on it. He wanted to see what my setup was, so I popped my hood, and he started noticing things that had just popped up (I had never seen any of these before).

First was a fuel leak out of my carb. Bad news. I'm probably going to have to rebuild it (holley 465 from RB).

Second, my water pump finally fully gave up the ghost. I was spraying coolant constantly. This just started today, as before it was just an intermittant problem.

Third I routed my fuel lines through my regulator wrong. This is a big problem because i'm not sure if there is a return on the FB tank. FWIW I have a Holley Blue pump running through -6 lines to the FPR, and then through 5/16" rubber fuel line to the carb. I need to figure out how to run a return line to my tank.

Fourth I'm running really rich. He said that I was belching black pulling through first up the hill by my house. Now I really need to tune my damn carb.

Here's the real reason behind my post. While i've got this all ripped apart, i'm contemplating removing all of the excess wiring out of my engine bay, or possibly picking up a used harness from someone that is parting out a car and stripping out what I don't need. Please answer my poll questions and give me some advice on my problems.

Thanks

Jim

The mantra, if it ain't broke, don't fix it comes to mind. The wiring is there for a reason, and your not saving any significant weight by pulling it out. It's well hidden from the factory so it shouldn't be an annoying visual mess. Just my thoughts.

If the PO hadn't hacked some of it (as in my factory temp and oil gauges don't work because of shitty splices, and the wiring is bad enough that I can't splice anything else in...) it wouldn't be bad, but it's annoying.
