Lost tail lights, interior lights, and headlight motor operation tonight

Went to drive a friend home after we went to look at a GSL-SE for me (such a sad story) and didn't have any interior lights. Thought it was something to look into, but didn't think too much about it. Then I had a few people flash their lights at me so we decided to look. Brake lights, turn signals, headlights, all still work. The fuse for the tailight illumn was blown. Tried another one and it blew instantly, then tried a 15 (10A fuse) just to see if I could atleast get home on that and it blew instantly too. Could even see the flash. Do you guys have any suggestions of where to start looking? A switch or something that is problematic. Drove this car a few days ago at night and there was no problems with this.

Thanks.

Sounds like you got a short. I had the same problem on an 85 I used to own. the previous owner wired an amp to the wire that supplies power to the factory stereo, it then melted several wires together. It took me months to fix, wire by wire. I hope that's not your problem, try checking your fusable links.

I had the same problem in my car, turned out one of the previous owners had wired in a 30A blade fuse, and that fuse was loose in it's connecting thing and causing a short I fixed that, and since then I've never had a problem...

Only thing that has been done near that circuit is the ashtray light has now become the light for the fuel pressure gauge. Checked that out though and it didn't seem to be it. That's about it. I gotta get under there and check wires I guess. Was hoping a switch liked to short or something.

The headlight motors are on that circuit, right? I don't have my wiring diagram in front of me.
