Loose Shifter in a 1985 GSL

I have a 1985 GSL, automatic and the shifter is very wobbaly while shifting. Suggestions on how to correct this?

down load the FSM from RX Doctor and look at that. Or the Factory parts manual - see what bits might be loose/worn. Likely need to remove handle assy to see what is flopping around or just plain disintegrated. The parts book will help ID potential replacement bits, along with part numbers. Manual trannys have a nylon-parts "service kit" of replacement bushings for this problem... but autos??
tough to get much info here since so few auto trannys, sorry-
