A few more details would help, such as mileage on the engine and what other work has been performed on the car. Most likely suspects from your brief description is leaking injectors, causing flooding, or a tired engine with low compression.

After trying to start your car; remove the spark plugs and see if they are soaked with gas. While you have the plugs out you should check compression as mentioned above. Good luck.

I would guess either a timing issue, or a bad sensor. Wait for the Doc to show up with the correct information, I only do carbs...

+1... you could try pulling the fuse on the fuel pump before shutting the car off and letting the car die from gas starvation to see if it is in fact a leaking injector. When you shut down a prop airplane (or model airplane for that matter), it is common to pull the mixture all the way out to lean it until it dies as a way to shut off the motor so I wouldn't expect any negative ramnifications.

Before I start brainstorming I wan't to make sure that I have read your post corrrectly. You have stated that after driving the vehicle for a undeterminate amount of time and stop then shut the vehicle off. Then immediately go to restart the car it will not restart. Is that correct?

I also need to know how long it has been doing this and does the outside temp have any factor on it? What if any repairs or service has been done to the engine recently?
