can you still take mean turns or drift with the ford 8.8 or is it mostly for drag racing?

Find a junkyard (or, watch the for sale section of the forum) rear end from an SE. Plan on spending a couple hundred for an entire rear end (brake disc to brake disc). This should save you several hundred over an aftermarket solution, and leave you with some spare brake parts, axles, and a housing.

Don't forget the other stuff that will go along with a rear end swap either. Get replacement bushings, brake lines, shocks/springs (if needed), brake pads, Brake fluid (self bleeding bleeder valves work great too), rear lube, etc. ahead of time.

Check www.re-speed.com for most of the above.

I was planning on re doing the whole rear while I replace the differential going with re speeds control arms coil over kit big brake conversion maybe and all the bushings they offer and I'm not worried about the price range seing as jm building this as a weekend track car just curious on which would be better performance wise

Why not rebuild? In my experience the stock GSL rear isn't all to bad, I currently have the stock weakling open diff behind a V8 and it's holding up just fine, granted I don't launch the car, but it has given me no sign of giving up. The GSL rear when freshened up it typically all you need unless your a regular at the drag strip, and/or making big power, what's your setup BTW?

Rebuild would be pointless I bent the hell out of it and I'm running a 13b street port with a racing beat tuned Holley msd coils and ignition box besides that everything is pretty stock but I plan on going Cosmo 3 rotor so need something that could support that
