I need to correct u there anthrax. The rats nest was already removed from my car when I got it. But I have learned enough about it from fixing the bad removal job on my car that I could probably help. I've spent so many hours on here just researching anything about the 1st gen.

Why do you need to look at a car that has the rats nest intact? I'd be rippin that thing outa there cause no FB has to be e-tested anymore. Even 85's are 20 years old. But I don't know what you have planned so I won't say any more.

You might have to start a new thread because this one was "looking for people in the london, ontario area" (to help)...and the answer appears to be no....

Just rip the rats nest out according to the tutorial found in the FAQ. You don't need it and it solves many headaches like this.

If you have to worry about emissions compliance in the future or now, pulling the rat's nest is not the answer. I've never read it, but the rat's nest removal tutorial is sure to have some pics if you go that route and (This is assuming you don't have to worry about emissions compliance) being an eco-terrorist doesn't bother your conscious...

In ontario, all cars over the age of 20 years do not need to have an emmissions test done. This means that all 1st gens are exempt from e-testing in ontario. Soooo, I say get that stuff out of there and save yourself a lot of headaches.

EDIT: you must have posted that at the same time I posted this. Anyway, for a safety check, as long as your exhaust system is in good condition and doesn't leak anywhere, and still exits out the back end of the car, then its all good. E-Testers don't care about the safety of the car, and the guys that do safeties don't care if the car passes an e-test.
