Looking for a "Nut button" for glass sunroof...

Ok, I have a glass sunroof but one of the nuts that hold the latching mech is missing. I can't just put another nut on it to fix it so does anyone have any of these button nuts or whatever you call em or does anyone know where to get em? Thanks guys!

here is what my notes on the subject say:
"Sunroof - glass- through-nuts:
Nissan Quest rear side windows. The "nuts" are a bit long though and
have to be shortened. They are also flatter than the stock nuts."

Don't know year of Quest to use... sorry
But if you DO figure it out, we'd all love to know too!

Yeah I ended up going to about 10 different windscreen/car glass repair places with no luck...

...until I found an old guy who ran one of the stores who had a box out the back with a heap of bolts and nuts that he had collected over the years from 100's of broken windows and sunroofs.

Fortunately he had some nuts and bolts in there that I could modify and use.

Another option would be to find someone with a metal lathe and see if they can turn you up some new nuts from round bar.

Cam...

When you do figure out what to use let us know as I think every glass roof I've ever seen on a FB is missing at least one of those damn things (including my own)...

The one I bought just recently had all it's buttons, but they were pretty corroded/abraded. Just finished repainting them, and am working on re-rubberizing the front "hooks" to stop them from rattling.

I'm also trying to come up with a good substitute for the little nylon "liners" that fit in the grooves on the rear latch that engage the pins on the pedestal. No way to ever find them except on another sunroof - - too specific.

With a little adaptation, you can use the buttons from the liftglass.

I wonder what the official name for such a part is... you see similar on pop-out side windows from various cars all the time.

That's the way to go, I tried home depot, rona (the Canadian version of home depot), etc, and was SOL until I tried the butons from the hatch glass (they are a bit bigger but don't look too out of place).

On my '80, the hatch glass buttons for the lift struts are a lot bigger than the ones on the moonroof glass. Maybe the wiper motor ones are smaller, or they got smaller in later years?
