Question looking at buying an '85

Hi, I'm new to the site and wanted to ask a couple of questions on buying an RX-7. I found a 1985 at a local dealership for sale to replace my 96 accord, and wanted to know what to ask about them, as in what parts and such have had trouble and replaced, and I can't really ID the trim on this one since I'm not too knowledgeable about this gen RX-7. I read the FAQ's just wondering on what I should ask when I call and what to look at when I go to the dealership.
Here's the link for the 85: http://www.diamondlot.com/cgi/info.e...ealer=byersimp

thanks

Rear wiper, should be a GSL. Might be worth 1/2 of what they are asking for it.

it might be a gsl. not sure if those are drum brakes in the 7th picture. appears to be cosmetically modified. welcome to the forum. hope you get a chance to take home that og rx-7 or any other first gen. if you need any help read the faqs first, search, and if you can't find an answer ask and we will gladly assist.

edit- forgot to say it has power windows and a premium sound system which featured tape deck, electronic tuner, equalizer, and a joystick balancer

Not a bad looking 7. The price on the other hand is a bit high if you ask me! Look for rust in and out and check for smoke at start up. Good luck!

The price is defiantly to high but it is at a dealership (used car dealership) so expect inflation. It looks like it has a Monza exhaust, If I had to guess I would say its a GSL, if it has the rear disc brakes then its a gsl.

See how far you can talk him down. It looks like a nice car just bring up small stuff that you notice to try to bring the price down. Good Luck

Do you live in columbus? I visit there every other weekend, and will be moving there at the end of May. If it is still there next time I go down, ill check it out. Ill take my SE to show them what I got for that price.

make sure you look for rust behind the bins and inside the tire well. Anyone notice how the tail lights look modded? In the picture with the rear glass up.. see the headliner? see how its hanging down? Isn't that a sign of water damage?

try and get the price lower point out all its imperfection. Before you buy ask for a test drive and bring it to the best inspection site you can. You should be able to knock off atleast 500 buks.

g/l nice find, if I had the cash I would think about it

I think there are some threads out there speaking of clear tail lights.

I am guessing all you do is seperate the lense from the main body.. sand it paint the main body chrome or high reflective silver. Then remove the colored lenses and replace with colored blubs. They look hot. I would do it, I am too busy with other stuff.
