Looking to buy first FB for 5.3 turbo build

So im very seriously thinking of buying a 81-83 FB and tossing in a junkyard 5.3 vortech. Probably LM4 or L33 variant bolted to a used Holset HX55 turbo. Hopefully ~10 seconds for ~10 grand including car.

I know the thought of this will be sacrilegious to some guys, but rest assured i wont be hacking away a mint FB. Budget for the car is 1500$ or less

For those who went to the dark side, how difficult is the FB LSx swap compared to the FC / FD? Guys know of any other vendors besides grannys which have kits tailored to the FB? Any major obstacles or words of the wise before buying the car??? Doesn't have to be v8 related.

I do have my eyes set on 2 owner 83 GSL. Runs and looks rust free. Asking 1600$. Seems like a good deal for a project car.

Try norotors.com, or the v8 swap section.

Yes its sacrilegious, get out of here!

Seriously, we don't know nothin about non-rotaries. Try the swp section or as mentioned other
forums.

Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good car

You can get a much better deal on a non-running car, if you are going to swap there is no benefit to a car that runs. My race car was without engine and transmission and I paid $20 for it, the body was perfect with no rust at all anywhere. You should be able to find a rolling chassis for less than $500 pretty easy.

I'll move some discussion to v8 section.

But id like to have the ability to move the car and occasionally drive it. So a working and driving rotary would be nice in the interim while i save for the v8. From my understanding you need specific minor parts / sensors off the motor. So id rather get something that's complete and with a clean title. Later on, i can sell the other parts i don't need to you guys. Win win right ?
