The Haynes manual that I have has no idea where this thing is, and I don't want to have to start cutting open wire looms to find it. I think I might have toasted it.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is not a Relay, It is built into the Starter.

I Think.

the manual says there's an external relay, I guess I'll just have to get under there and start ripping things off

My haynes manual shows no relay. Wiring diagram depicts it as part of the starter.

Isnt the relay the thing you hook the power and ground to? If so I think it comes apart. I mean, you can rebuild a starter, so i am sure you could swap out the realy if it was built in. Probably easier to just get a different starter though if thats the case.

I have drawn the starter and solenoid in my No Start Thread... (Paint pwnz j00!!!)

As stated before, it's attached to the starter. It's part of the bendix drive that moves the pinion forward to engage the flywheel.
