Exclamation A little help please! In the middle of a project.

I'm in the process of removing my 12A and i'm following the Haynes Manual. I'm at the point where I have to remove the 2 top bolts that attach the engine to the tranny. I got the one closest to the drivers side off but the other side is being a huge pain. I stopped before I stripped it to much. I sprayed some WD40 on it but i'm not sure what to do? Can I use a propane torch? I dont want to damage anything. It's a 14mm bolt. Please help me out!

That works its just a bolt that goes through the tranny to the engine housing with a bolt on the backside so you can replace it if it breaks. Its the one that has the engine holding loop bracket thingy(getting technical here).

unbolt the tranny's crossmember so that the engine and tranny will be at an angle. That should give you enough room so you can hammer a 9/16 long socket or something similar.

My advice:

1. WD-40 isn't worth the cost of the can it comes in. PB Blaster is your friend.

2. On something like this, don't remove each bolt as you get it to break free. Rather, get each one to break free just a little bit, then move on to the next one.

Since you are down to the last bolt at this point, it may very well have all of the weight on itself right now (or it may be wedged). This may make it even harder to get that last bolt broken free. Leaving the others in place, broken free but still snug, helps to support everything and avoid this. Good luck with it.

Some days it's easier to drain the tranny and pull the engine and tranny together. They are also much easier to mate back up outside of the car. You will need to remove the shifter too.

WD-40 belongs in the nightstand by the bed for a sexual aid, it has no business in the shop.

I agree with trochoid pulling it all at once makes things fairly easy, no fighting with 2-4 inch long bolts that are btw the firewall and engine. just make sure you have all the wires and hoses disconnected and she just pops out, and ya the shifter you might want to remove that to make pulling it out easier.
I use a couple bike or whatever hangers and screw them into the trusses of the roof and screw em in deep as you can get them in hook up a chain and then a hoist and voila you got yerself a hoist that takes no room at all (I know it sounds unsafe and im pretty sure it is, but the ceiling is drywalled, otherwise i would of made another system using some steel and long u-bolts and whatnot and putting two trusses to work instead of just one.)
Make sure you have the radiator out and its nice to have a friend to help you guide the engine out and push the car back while lifting it out, be sure to wrap a rag or plastic bag a couple times over the tail end of the tranny otherwise the oil will leak out all over the place.

Or unbolt the tranny and engine pull the rad disconnect all the lines and necessary electical stuff. Then Hook the engine to some sort of removal device. pull the engine about 7 inches forward and take the lid from the WD40 can and put it in the end of the tranny it will snug right in the hole the drive line came out of and it will hold all the oil in the tranny np. Works awsome. But sense you allready have it all jacked up then best to just get the bolt out and keep in mind for next time.
