Lining up the steering wheel

I purchased a 1979 model series 1 RX7. When I bought the car it had a sports steering wheel and the fellow I got the car from had sourced a spare original wheel. Behind the steering wheel there are 2 pins (perhaps for the horn). Without moving these I can't get the replacement steering wheel to set in the right orientation (it is about 40 degrees out).
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pete

The 2 pins are for the turn signal cancel. It's been a while since I had a wheel off, can't you turn the ring with the pins and line them up with the wheel? It may be that the turn signal lever is not centered.

I will have another look at it and see if I can turn it. I am sure that it can't be anything too complex.
thanks for the advice.

I have got it sorted now. The 2 pinned piece was just a bit sticky. I remove the circlip and it turned around to where I needed it.
Thanks again
