Limited Slip Differential (Newbie Question)

How can i know if my car had a factory LSD ?
I know in 1980 the LSD was an optional but was an optional that came with rear disc brakes?
Because the car had factory installed rear disck brakes!

If a lift it up? both wheels have to turn to the same direction and at the same time..right? but what happened if the LSD is worn out??

Please help!

PD: Sorry for my bad english.

you could jack up the back and turn one wheel

if the other side spins the opposite direction = no lsd

same direction = lsd

pretty sure its in the faqs

also dl a copy of the FSM in my sig if you dont have one already

..quote from http://v8mongrel.com/blogthis/?cat=29 --- the Mazspeed axle link says “the axle assembly used in 79-80 models cannot be altered to add a limited slip differential. Treat these units as really big paperweights or one more thing to clutter up your garage.”....

Its this for real? I cant add a LSD ?!?!

How about welding the Diff? Or i am talking crap?

Your car is an 81. You can use the LSD from a North American 81 to 83 GSL
