Question Light weight battery for F.B.

Hey just wondering if anyone has a idea where I can get a light weight battery for my 82. I have checked with summit and jegs and didn't see anything. I currently have the standard size battery and all the weight that comes with it. I'am trying to shave some pounds for my second season of street legals (amaetur) I have already done all the cheap weight removal stuff, rats nest, heat sheilds, radio, a.c., sound deadener, etc. I have noticed that the Honda shitvics have a really small battery, but i doubt it has enough amperage. thanks.

EDIT: A honda battery should be enough to power a rex... I dont see why not.... Put on a second gen alternator also...

The standard Civic battery isn't any smaller than anything else. I know the Miata uses basically a motorcycle battery and they seem to work fine.

Go cheap. Use a lawn tractor battery. You can get em at autozone for $20. Just dont use it full time on teh street, itll be toast within a year. Swap it out for racing. Also, have you considered relocating it to the pass side storage bin for better weight distribution?

The tractor battery is an excellent suggestion. I used one in my autocross car for a season or so, and it's cheap and works fine.

There also used to be a racing battery called "Pulsar" or something like it. 4 lbs. or so. It was a very thin, sealed battery that was the lightest I ever found. I did a quick search on the web and couldn't find them.

Use a Gel-Cell 12 volt battery from a home alarm system... You just have to push start the car...

Hey... How fast do you wanna go and what're you willing to do to achieve that?

try these guys as well - Hawker Odessey batteries http://www.batterymart.com/battery.mv?c=odyssey . A little prcey compared to a lawn tractor battery though, but could save you around 25 pounds in weight, which is not bad if you are seriously into dieting.
