Lift or Jack?

What do most of you guys use to crawl under the car? I am thinking about replacing all my fuel line (and brake lines if it's cheap) but I am kinda big (220lbs) and I don't know if a regular jack stand is enough for me... I have access to a lift, but I don't know if it's neccisary.
