Leaky coolant question

I think I am leaking coolant from a coolant seal in my motor. I have a little white smoke from my exhaust sometimes and have to add a little coolant every once and a while. I wanted to know if it would help slow down the rebuild process if I put one of those radiator stop leaks in the motor, if it would stop it? Also, does anyone have any other suggestions on how to fix it w/o a rebuild.

Thanks,
Chris

Is there water in with the oil? If so that's a bad sign. Rebuild time. I have no idea if that stop leak stuff would work.

No, there is no water in the oil.

Stop-leak might work. But it also may block some radiator passages. Of course, if it stops the engine leak you can replace the rad for a few bucks and a few minutes. It's worth a try. When I was a lad working in a two-pump Phillips 66 station we used to do it all the time, and it worked pretty good. Saved several guys some bucks.

Check out this O-ring Fix page. I've never done it but supposedly it works if you follow the directions.

I recently did the O-ring fix with 3 bottles of that CRC Copper Block Seal. Follow the directions!
My used engine had apparently been overheated...symptoms were the need to add water every other day, air pressure buildup and oil within the cooling system.
After the fix there are no more traces of oil in the system, no need to add water anymore..its been about a month and only slight air pressure buildup. So Id have to say that it works... the car passed Cali smog testing recently very cleanly and looks like it will save me the need for a rebuild for awhile.
Like the appended note says... Drain the stuff after the fix is done! After driving 80 miles home back from Mazda's Rev It Up Competition my water pump gave out.
