leaking fuel injectors
hey guys, i have a 1984 GSL-SE that i have been working on for two days now because i discovered a smell of gas coming from under the hood. I went looking for the smell and i found a puddle of gas right where the fuel injectors are.
So, i took the throttle body off and replaced all the o-rings and gaskets, and pretty much every seal on the fuel injection system. After i put the injectors on, i turned the key so that the fuel pump would turn on, but it was still leaking. The place where it is leaking is right at the top of the injector plug where it plugs into the fuel pressure regulator.
Now i have no idea what i can do to make it stop leaking even though all the seals and o-rings are new.
so if you have any idea what it could be it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Harvey

I am going to assume that you bolted the fuel rail back down before you checked for leaks again?
Also that you replaced the upper (thick) grommet and the narrow O-ring?
Unless you pinched one of the grommets or o-rings generally the only place that it would leak at that point is either the injector it self or having a crack in the fuel rail where the injector seats.
In seeing that you stated-" turned the key so that the fuel pump would turn on".
The fuel pump should not be coming on when you turn the key to the on position unless you have installed a jumper in the bypass connector or you have a defective AFM.

I have seen SE injectors that have had a cracked body. Only fix is to replace it. Did you lube the rubbers with Vasoline or something similiar? I have split new rubbers, even with lube, not hard to do. Either way, this presents an extreme fire hazard and needs to be addressed asap.

I had a pintle cap cracked on one of my injectors....its the cap on the end...check it really really close for any hair-line cracks. I bought new ones from Mazdatrix & it fixed my fuel leak.
