late model fb seats in an 81?

Bought some late model (guessing 85) two piece seats thinking they were the same bracket but it appears they are totally different? Tried to use the search function to see if anyone else ran into this issue, but it came up with nothing.

the seats interchange from 79-85, so they should go right in. maybe a pic would help?

All 79-91 seats are a direct fit. I had the nice s5 black cloth with red pin stripe seats in mine for a bit. They give a better posture. I now have 83 low backs in black cloth in my 80. FD and RX8 seats fit with a little bending and cutting of brackets.

The ones with black carpet are what she has installed, the ones on the wood are the new ones, from a 85 I believe.

Looks like the bracket got squashed. Maybe it was sat in on the concrete and bent the bracket. Try bending it downward to match the correct position.
