LAst Minute Install Q's
I am installing the motor into the 85 GS This SUNDAY!
1987 SE 13B 6 port w/ EFI
I am retaining the FI so I am going to be transfering everything, harnesses, sensors, ect.. The motor is still in the donor car. My GS is gutted and ready to dump the motor in...
I am trying to figure the best way to do it with minor confusion
Here is my current plan:
1)Unplug the wiring harness from the 87 SE inside the Cab, from the ECU, fishing it through the firewall and placing the connector on top of the motor,
2)Unbolting any sensors/ coils, ect that hook up to the main wiring harness that are fixated on the frame and laying them on the block.
3) Pulling the motor and tranny as one peice
4) Removing the oil pan and front cover and replacing them with my gsl-se pan
and my 12A cover
5) Install the modified motor mount bracket, swap out used (but fine) clutch for NEW dynapak unit
6) Install my 12A tranny up to the 13B motor (I don't wanna hear it this is what I have decided to do)
7) PLop the motor and tranny in at once and then figure out how to wire the car up on the computer side....
Does this sound like the easiest approach? Any tips or tricks? thanks for your help, and wish me luck.

Sounds about right.
The only tip I can give you is GET THE WIRING DIAGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you will be endlessly chasing wires, and the diagrams will help immencely. Also, the FSM will show the pinout voltages for the connectors on the ecu. THIS is very helpful.

I figured I would need to explain that... I have been dancing around the idea for 8 months and finally decided to stick with the 12A for several reasons..
1) Gear ratios- 1st gen 12A
3.674
2.217
1.432
1.00
0.825
Final- 3.909
2nd Gen 13B
3.475
2.002
1.366
0.711
Final-4.100
I am looking at a Hair quicker acceleration with the 12A tranny and loosing a little high end, But as this car will be used for autocrossing mainly the acceleration will be a better asset then the interstate top end.
2) The install will go a lot smoother without having to construct a tranny mount for the 2nd gen tranny.
3) I have 4 spare 12A trannies no spare 13b's.
That is about it.... The car will be running in CSP (they said I can LOL) I feel it will make things easier on install if i keep it this way. Thanks for the support
