Koni Struts

I just bought some Koni Red strut inserts for my 7. Has anyone ever put these in before? Are they a PITA to install? Btw, I DO have a spring compressor. But Do i need to weld anything? IE the spring seats?

Thanks

I have, i never had any problems, you will have to cut off a little of the tap on the strut insert. (they are notched). When i did the install with mine, i didn't need a spring compressor because i installed springs that had an 1" drop. So the install was really easy.

If you are running a stock spring on your front suspension you will need to use your spring compressor. Make note of the little triangle pointer up on top the strut tower. It will help you get the camber back to the orginal positon.

There maybe a thin oil in the strut tube once you take the nut off the strut tube.
I re-fill mine with Power steering fluid, actually about a couple of table spoons per will do it. Found it keeps the strut cooler, plus I read it somewhere to do it.

Never cared for Konis much, found them to firm for the street, but to each their own. Make sure you are wearing your seatbelt the first time out. Don't want you hitting your head on your roof.

Let us know how it going.

I have to wait for them to be delivered. Bought them new on Ebay for $81 shipped...Thought it was a good deal, at least for replacing the 23 year old factory ones. I don't mind a rough ride, I'm all about the stiffness of the car. I love to corner, and it'll help me wax some little imports at the local 1/2 mile circle track. I laugh in the face of a turbo civic!

Installing new struts by themself is not going to make the car handle much better, installing a stiff strut like Koni's will help you enjoy the rough pavement all that much more.

Consider new springs, not only stiffer but will lower the car reducting body roll. Also new poly bushings in the front end with a fat front bar will help. Leave the old rubbers in the rear, but change to softer than Koni shock in the rear.
