Keep 79 or get later 1st gen?
I am trying to decide if I should keep my 1979 RX7 or get a later model first gen. Is it worth upgrading rear end and brakes or just get another car. What have people done to up grade the deficiencies? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

I read your email
I guess it depends on what shape your 79 is in and whether or not you like to work on cars. The 79 model has tons of potential and is a great base to work from. If you want instant satisfaction without getting your hands very dirty sell the 79 and find a clean GSL-SE.

i think it all depends on how u drive and what u want the car for.
if u just want a the car to throw around and do home made mods on then keep the the 79
if u want something more refined with more driver comforts (all the electrics) then maybe its time to move up

Hey, I 'downgraded' from an '82 to a '79 and I'm very happy with my choice. The '79 is a great platform and is neato keen retro to boot. Most importantly, the SA22C is getting very scarce. We need to keep as many on the road as possible.
If you're looking for performance stuts for the '79 style towers, check out the internet. I got a pair of Konis for ~$24 USD each at either www.thepartsbin.com or www.classicgarage.com. I can't remember at the moment
