Yeah, that makes perfect since. I see now where everyone is getting at...

Any carb I slap onto my rotary is going to make it run "okay", just not at it's full power potential until I play with it enough to getting everything set "just right".

Exactly

Spend some time on yaw's site reading his articles, and on Sterling's site reading *his* articles and you'll feel a little overwhelmed... Then you step back, pick out enough info to form a good base, and go from there.

Sterling and Carl (who both work in tandem on the "Sterling" carbs) are both great guys who are easy to approach and talk to, and they're always more than willing to answer questions about carbs and tuning.

But I think you're getting the idea now

Anyone can slap on mods and be "fast", but only the people who truly take the time to understand and tune their car can be "fastEST"

No carb is really plug-n-play. When I finally chase down my vacuum leak, I'll be swapping over to my Sterling carb and will look forward to tuning time.

They'll walk you through the tuning, trust me. Sterling spent a crap load of time with me the first swap go around until we determined I have a vacuum leak somewhere.

the "street rod" nikki i was refering to was built by Paul Yaw. the sterling carb is basically a version of that ( i dont mean a copy, just it's a super performance nikki ) so i imagine you can get close to the numbers of Yaw's carb. his carb was getting 425 cfm i believe and the sterling is right around that. basically the only thing i can see holding us sterling owners back from that potential is non-adjustable air bleeds and emulsion tubes. or if they are adjustable then WOOT. but i know they would have to custom make those pieces themselves, and thats even more work on their part. but the jetting alone will get you far. just my 0.01

Ours flows 452 cfm.
And "yes", everything is tuneable.

Thanks for replying. I've been waiting to hear from you man.

452cfm is incredible over the 300cfm stock. You guys have really came a long way with this! I'm surprised you don't list at least a generic "estimated h.p. gain" though. You've gotta know roughly what you can get out of the modded carb by now. I know, "each car is different..." but still. If I say what my setup is before adding it, just should have a guess at the potential gain. Although this is my opinion, maybe it's not that simple, I just think it would be.

Another question here. This might end my decision on carbs... Can I still use my A/C with a sterling carb? Can I with a 2 barrel setup?

I'm looking for extra power but, I won't ALWAYS be racing my seven around everywhere. Sometimes I will want to just cruise around town with the A/C on and the windows up. I know the A/C puts a serious load on the motor and thus reduces power but, with the system turned off (by simply turning the A/C off) the load is COMPLETELY gone, right? I mean, without the compressor running, the motor shouldn't even know it's there, right? I'm guessing certain carbs might lack the vacuum attachments though...

i was pretty sure everything was adjustable, but you guys do have to make the air bleeds and emulsion tubes correct?
