Thumbs up Just steamed cleaned the s5 internals.

Finally had a chance to fine tune a few things on the s5 swap. Got the 2nd gen coil installed....runs like a champ. Then a did the old "pour water down the carb" treatment and steamed that 13b clean from the inside. She's now running super smooth. The difference is awesome!

Explain this "steaming" process, lol. I heard a spray bottle spraying into the carb does this, right? What does this do?

from what i understand you spray water down the carb and the engine heats the water up and basically steam cleans the engine

Yep,been around for a long time.I use a spray bottle to get it into a fine mist before it goes down the carb.If you do it excessively,or have a very carboned up engine, you might want to change the oil after a treatment.
Water injection is typically used as an anti-detonant/intercooling agent on turbo-supercharged engines, aircraft, race cars, ect. It also has the awesome side effect of steam blasting the carbon off of the combustion surfaces since the water is flash steamed by the explosion of fuel in the engine.Water injected engines usually have very clean internals,a good example of this is the 6-stroke engine recently developed by Bruce Crower. No cooling system and very low pollution and carbon buildup in the engine.

that why with engines with blown head gaskets, the cylinder that leaked into looks clean as a baby's ***.

For it being non-chemical it really cant be beat. I actually didnt use a spray bottle. I slowly poured the water out of a bottle making sure to keep the rev high enough for the motor not to bog out.

yup. grab the throttle cable and pour it slowly in each barrell. Similar process as you would do with carb cleaner.

With mine, I got carried away so I used a 1-liter coke bottle per rotor.

I poured a cup full of water down the carb on my '69 Corona once. It didn't make a difference.

I wanted to put a rotary in that thing so bad. I could these days if I still had it.
