just got a ride in a bp 13b

i just met a guy today who had a 85 -se with a 4 port 13b he did himself. the outside was kinda ghetto looking, but that thing sounded so badass and was fast. i didnt have any power down low, and idled at 2k, but man.. it pulled all the way to 10k. he said he took the end plates off a 12a, and used 13b everything else. he said he had plans for a ford rear and a stronger tranny. ive never seen/heard/ridden in one in person, it was definately badass.

thought id share

when we met up, his car was off, and i saw all the gauges and ****, and i didnt think anything of it, just another rex. and he started it up. i ask "it sounds ported" he replies "it is" i go "street?" him "bridge".

it was lumpy, but it sounded soooooooooooo good. he said the only thing he doesnt like is it draws alot of attention.

If it's got no low end torque, what's the advantage of a Ford rear end?

since your powerband is way up there, when you get a larger gear ratio in the final drive you can have shift points near a normal car, but have a bunch more torque

he said he had to rev it high to get it off the line, so he said he wants some slicks with the rear so he can dump the clutch at high rpms off the line and hopefully it will stick.
