Unhappy Just bought an 83 GSL Limited Edition that won't start, help!

Me and my buddy went to an auction the other day and inside this small garage was this small looking sports car,an 83 RX-7 GSL 5spd,the auctioneer crew members couldn't get the car to start so it was sold as is,we stayed around to see what it sold for and ended up buying it for $300.We got it back to my house and looked it over better, the interior is in immaculate condition, not a scratch.Later upon reading up on it a little bit I found out that it's either the Limited Edition Mazda put out or someone tried to pass it as one because it has every feature as the Limited Edition.I put a new battery in it and every single power function works on it,no problems with any of the power window motors,or headlights. Before I did anything I changed the oil, using 10W40 Castrol GTX,replaced the spark plugs with NGK's,replaced the plug wires, and Distributor Cap and just seen if it would fire.I actually had it running for about 15 secs but couldn't keep it up. When it turns over it sounds like it just wants to catch and start right up but it won't. I didn't know whether or not trying to bump start it would work?I just need opinions and help from those who are willing. This car is in too good of shape to not be driven!

I would try to pull start it, as "bump starting" could damage the bumper cover, and it may take several attempts. I just got my new '84 started that way. The guy said he parked it before winter, and it wouldnt start in the spring so it sat for a year and a half. It wouldn't start under its own power. We put a strap on it, put it in second gear left the clutch engaged, and started pulling. after about 45 seconds, it started and ran great. now it starts every time with a tap of the key.

First off 1983 Limited Editions were not GSL but a GS model.

Replace the fuel filter, drain the fuel tank (83) cause it has a drain plug in the bottom of the tank. Put in fresh 5 gallons of gasoline.

Verify that the fuel pump is working and you are getting fuel to the carburetor.
