Junked it!! =)

Due to a new special diet I've been feeding my SE, I was able to junk most of the AC components in front of the firewall today. Parts that came out: all lines in front of the firewall, Ac bracket (damn it was like 10-15lbs!)..condensor (another 8-10), receiver dryer.. compressor was already out..I was thinking about the cruise.. but left it in.. for the time being.. the engine bay just got more space...all in the trash... I saved you guyz the trouble of asking for parts... the system was open for the past 2 yrs .. so I just junked it all...

I remember someone mentioning something about removing the coils inside the cabin by the passenger side footwell... I;m assuming the removal of the AC stuff will not afffect the operation of the fan/vent right??

Last question for those with motorized vent switching capabilities/electric logicon. Anyone replaced the motor that does the switching? Mine will not move the vanes or flaps to switch between vent/bilevel/heat/defrost... How do I get to that motor behind the stereo? Does the dash have to come out???

Congrats man! Next step: battery relocation!

As for the fan motor thing, I bet the problem is with your logicon, not the motor itself. These tend to burn out after a while. Try going to a junkyard and getting one there or pick one up on Ebay for a couple bucks. To answer your question, to get to the heater core/blower motor, that dash had gotta come out! Kind of a bitch the first time, but it gets progressively easier. I have mine down to 9 bolts/screws and can do it in under 5 minutes, including the the gauge panel

I don't like moving the battery 'cause of all the extra cable, and 'cause then it's away from the other working stuff. Better to change to a smaller battery - you can almost spin a rotary with flashlight cells!

Actually the dash does not have to come out. You can pull the glove box and get in under the dash and you will see how you can pull the pod out that has everything mounted in it.
