It's been geeked out!
I got my carputer installed. Everything is wired, and the funniest thing is that the stock alt will work..... as long as i stay above 1.5k rpms. If i can get my hands on a digital camera i will post some pictures of it tonight. Now i just have to figure out how i can keep my eyes on the road while i have music vidoes/dvds/sealab epps.
On a sorta related side note, does anyone have any 13b housings in descent condion for sale on the inexpensive side? I just started pulling my se engine appart, and it looks like the coolant leak was caused by the housing giving away at the seal... Doh.

Geek Power!!!!
Strange things hapen when you leave a geek to their own devices.
Pics would be cool
What OS are you running?
what are the specs on the box?
Hey have you got wireless? That would be real cool for wardriving!! You could map out all the wireless access points in your area. Now that would be sweet

Alright, pics should come tonight if all goes according to plan.
The Box:
Mini itx motherboard, cyrix/via 1Ghz processor. 256mb ram, onboard video with rca and s-vid tv out, sound(5.1), and lan. 40 gig, 24x cdrom. Wireless card should be comming with my next paycheck.
Oh yeah, GPS, for traveling, and pinpointing networks when wardriving. 7.2" starvision lcd. It will go in the dash of my SE when i get done rebuilding it. But its mounted in my Gsl right now. I have a touch pad that i put in where the stereo fader used to be so i can control differen't programs, and a mini usb keypad so i can use all the winamp controls easily without a full keyboard.
Best thing about a mini itx setup is that it requires a 12volt input. So you don't need an inverter, though i recommend one. The power from your accessory output jumps alot, and its better to condition it before you run it into a computer. Not to mention the case is about 12"X11"X2", and was originally going under my seat, but i decided to just velcro it down in the back.
To solve a little bit of a power issue, im going to wire in my spare t2 alt tomorrow, then everything should be good to go.
As i said before, i should have pictures later on tonight.

Anthrax, i'll consider that. Though after i got done posting, i was talking to a friend of mine, and his bud has an 87 engine he wants to get rid of. The engine runs, with low compression on the rear rotor. So the guy is going to pull the engine apart for me, and see what condion its in. Best part of it is that i get a complete engine for $50. ITs been a while since i have been this lucky!

Sweet
Look @ X10's web site they sell a remot control unit designed to work with your PC I have one works great. It might make it a bit easyer for you to control while driving.
Thats sweet!!
So is the case like an old dumb terminal case or somthing? to be that small
Now just make it run Linux and it'll be that much sweeter

At the Ottawa Rx7 Meet I met a guy who hangs out in the Canadian forum called AaronCake. He's got a cool Mp3box setup for his car.. It's a stripped-down comp, in a clear plexi case that he made himself. He's running a majorly stripped-down version of Windows9x, and is interfacing thorugh a small set of buttons he rigged to the serial port and progged an interface for. The computer responds to the commands with a voice synthasizer through the speakers... I thought it was pretty cool. It's easily removable too, so right now he's got it ported into his funky Gas/Electric hybrid car, until his cool-*** secret Rx7 Project car comes to light I'll say nothing more :P

I've got a P60 in my garage hooked to an FM transmitter so I can either listen to songs with a walkman, or a set of speakers while I'm working. I'm gonna upgrade soon, but this P60 has well over 24 hours worth of songs on it loaded into a winamp playlist. It happily plays songs all day, every day.
