Intake manifold Coolant question...

Intake manifold Coolant question...

I recently removed my intake manifold from my car... Anyways offiously coolant leaked out from where it goes from the engine to the intake manifold... My question is will my thermostat kick in sooner to allow coolant to enter into water jacket to offset the loss of coolant? Thanks

are you saying that if you blocked off the coolant ports to the intake manny that flow would be routed quicker to your motor therfore creating a quicker temp of coolant? if that is what you are saying then i would say i dont know for sure but i would think yes but not significantly.

No that is not his question. The t-stat has a small hole in it and allways allows circulation of coolant.


Different subject, but close.

You should block off the coolant passage that goes into the intake, because it heats up the engine since it circulates into the intake directly above the exhaust.

oohh is that why guys seal quarters over the holes on the motor. makes sense ill do the same.

What if you have an intake that the coolant passages are welded shut? Should I still use the quarter method and o-rings? I am leaking it out around the gasket. Some drips into the intake, causing smoke, the rest drips on exhaust (more like small, steady stream). Ideas?

Make sure the mani is flat after welding. Also it would not hurt to run the rubber orings even if the manifold is blocked off.
