I have always wanted to change my instraments off my 82 rx7 because the speedometer only goes to 85. I know the 83 model goes to 120 and thats what Im looking at. If I were to swap the two out would everything fit just like it does now. Cause it is the same display only the speedometer is different. Also... would I need to change the hole speedometor cable. I think so but not sure. Cause if I just put the new one in, the speed would be way off. Thanks

the cluster fits in great, i think you need a new speedo gear in tranny though....

 

well I got the tranny off a 83 or 84 so I think it will work, the speedo gear as you call it does that mean I have to take apart the tranny?

 

nah man, just the little plastic gear at the end of your speedo cable inside the tranny
its easy to pull out

 

I see, than for the most part it will work just fine? just a new cable or can I just modify the end of the cable, or can I just get the cable from the car I take the cluster out of. It should have the right cable, right?
