Installing an alarm on my car

okay, so after having 4 subs stolen out of my Rx-7 with amps, neon lights, and cd player, I finally got an alarm for it. so, I've got it all installed accept for the dome supervision wire.. it's supposed to connect to the fuse. my question is, where in the world is that fuse at?
I tried the tail illum. wire and it went off when I opened the door.
but after I turned the alarm off, and closed the door, then re-activated it. I'd open the door and the alarm wouldn't go off. Do I have the right fuse or is it just that I'm not waiting long enough for the alarm to activate it. I haven't played around with it alot, but I was just wondering you would really make this install alot easier.
Thanks.
also if anyone has ever put a Gold line street glow neon kit under a 1st gen, let me know how you did it, as that's whats going on next.
Thanks.
God bless
John Wollam.

it should be the fuse marked 'room'. its with all the rest of the fuses in the fuse box. a quick check to make sure you've got the right one is to pull the fuse(with the dome light on) and see if the light goes out.

You may want to keep in mind that everything on the rx-7 is switched on the negative side, unlike many other cars which are switched on the positive side. This is true for the rool lamp. however, the easiest place to tap into it is at the cpu, located under the drivers side storage bin. look for red wires with a black stripe, that is the one coming from your hatch and a red wire with a yello stripe which is coming from your doors. I reiterate, these provide ground for the lamp not voltage.

okay, I've got an 1983 Mazda Rx-7 GS
the only fuse box I know about is the one under the dash on the drivers side, and none of them are marked room.
is there another fuse box somewhere?
and if there is where is it?
also how do I hook up the alarm if it's on the negative side (can't remember exactly how you put it)
also any of your guys ever put a neon light kit underneath your Rx-7.
laws in california say that you can have them, but no bulbs can show, so I'll have to get some sideskirts or something.
anyways, thanks for your help.

there is only one fuse box. its right near the hood release latch, driver's side, under dash. on the fuse box cover(inside) is a list, it tells what fuses are where. one should be marked 'room' on the panel, look at the box and find the corresponding fuse. it should be right next to the one that says "cigar" i believe(don't have a fuse box handy right now). anyway, you are trying to tap into a wire that is on the constant 12v circuit... one that always has power. when your door opens, it turns on the dome light, causing a voltage change, setting off the alarm. your fuse box has a panel cover, doesn't it?

one more thing, even if its not marked, you can still find the fuse. with the car off, pull and replace each fuse one at a time. whenever you see the overhead light go off, you've found the fuse. i do believe that fuse is in the passenger side column of the fuse box.
