Inquiry about purchasing a 1981 Mazda RX-7
Knowing that many of you are Mazda RX-7 Buffs and enthusiasist, I would like to ask your thoughts and opinions on a recent deal that has come to my attention that I am seriously considering purchasing.
a 1981 2 Door Hatchback Hardtop Mazda RX-7 has recently become available near where I live, and I wanted your thoughts and opinions on both the deal, and also the car itself. The body is in excellent condition without a spot of rust, having been rustproofed many times, and the paint still gleams like new. It has 102,000 km on it (about 65,000 miles I think) and has recently had its Muffler, Computer Chip and Gastank replaced. The interior is in good condition, with still the original carpeting and seat material inplace. The motor starts up fine, and having test driven it, I have encountered no problems. The owner is asking $4,200 (CDN) fully certified, and he also owns another one that is on blocks, not running and is willing to throw it into the deal. (it would provide spare parts for many accessories and components, including all the windows, which I'm told are both hard and expensive to replace). First, I wanted to ask if this was a good deal, as I believe it to be and 2ndly, as I am a 2nd year university student, my budget is rather limited, so I would rather not be spending another 2000-3000 every year just to keep the car in running condition, so I wanted your thoughts on the reliability of the vehicle, if it has any common problems amongst the models, availability of locating spare parts. Lastly, as it is a classic as many would term it, I was wondering if the Mazda RX-7's are able to hold and sustain there value as they age, or does there value decrease with each year.
Thank you for your time, and hope to hear from you.

sounds like a good deal for a low miles cars. Average price on a 7 is about $1500 US, that is a running car with about 120K Miles, normal paint fade and little to no rust.
with the car being low miles you should not have much to worry about for a long time. and any thing that does go out is easy to find used on here or new at most parts stores.
