inexpensive brake pad sources...

with xmas coming, the rx7 budget is getting tight, but i have to get this fixed in order to be safe

here's the prob...i've got brake fading so while i'm correcting that i might as well change out the brake pads and such...anyone have sources where they sell inexpensive semi-metallic or organic pads, master cyl and brake pad hardware kits, etc...etc...? doesn't have to be from the same site...just post your links and price you paid...

i have an 84 gsl-se but post for all...so everyone can benefit

thanks in advance!

Victoria British sells semi-metallic pads, $30 for all the fronts, $30 for all the rears. But I have no experience with how well they work.

These are more expensive, but I've heard good things about them, although I have no personal experience. http://www.carbotecheng.com/prod-ct-compounds.htm

I could use a set of new front brake pads also as my current ones are a little soft.

But I wouldn't recommend AutoZone pads, as I have a number of friends who work there and know better.

An excellent rule of thumb is to not skimp when it comes to brakes. Hawk Pads aren't the cheapest but I've hear really good things about 'em. I'll probably get them next time around. BTW, www.shox.com sell Hawk Pads.

Hawks are the best, IMO.

And the best place to get them is www.raceshopper.com - Edwin has the best prices and service, hands down. Cheaper than tirerack, and faster. If you tell him Jacob Cloud sent you, I'll get a discount on my next set, too!

Cloud's right. Raceshopper is the lowest price i found also. this is the price quote they gave me:

1985 Mazda RX7 12A
HB 150 (front) HPS $46/set
HB 151 (rear) HPS $43/set

Speaking of brake pad sources. does anyone know where to find EBC pads, besides tirerack? I found a little no-name estore a while back, and now i cant remember what it was called.

I'm curious if anyone knows if i were to buy a set of Hawk pads that i could use my stock rotors still or would you recommend using a hi-per rotor. I don't especially wanna spend the $$ for the rotors but my pads just don't grab for whatever reason. They have plenty of meat on them so im looking for something to rememdy that problem.
