I'm totaled
I'm totaled
Hit by some idiot who thought I had to stop sign as I turned in front of him.
The bumper is scratched, the wheel is either bent/out of alignment/steering linkage totaled, the fender is wrecked, the door is scratched. I can't be sure but it feels like my steering wheel is at a funny angle. I know I have to hold it half a turn left just to go straight
I never thought this would happen to me
Adjuster is coming out Tuesday and will probably cut me a check for some pathetic amount. He told me over the phone it was probably totaled. I can understand being a 20 year old car; but he hasn't even looked at it yet

hmm. doesn't look that bad.. The control arm is probably bent you can get one from a junk yard for like 20 bux. Then you just need a new fender and about 2 hours of body work on the door and paint and she'll be good as new.. unfortunately the paint and body work will probably be over $1000...
That's not totalled, that's just bodywork. The front control arm may be tweaked if it managed to hit it with enough force to deform it.
I would suggest that you jack it up, take off the front tire and wheel and have a look in there. You've demonstrated that you have a digicam, so get in there and take some pics with the wheel off. Hell, I have enough parts in my garage to fix that without even breaking a sweat!
Chin up - it should be able to be repaired fairly easily. I even have a control arm that I'll GIVE to you if you end up needing one. Take a close look and see what's really wrong with it. To me, it looks like a fender, a door (or touchup on the door), and possibly the lower control arm, maybe (?) a wheel.
It's not totalled. Unless you want it to be.

Your lucky dude that's not bad at all.
The headlight is still in align too, that's the best part.
I can tell by looking there's no structual damage.
You guys should see what I did to rotofire's car wed night, you'd be thankful it wasn't worse. (mint 84 gsl just like iotus's)80k!!!) I deserve to die.
Usally they'll cut you a check for the book value(not mint of course) and then you can buy the car back for like 50.00

The control arms on these cars are weak sauce... Any aftermarket cast ones like on modern cars?
I agree that there's very little damage to your car Suparslinc... Control arm and it's drivable again.

Looks like you can get the previouse damaged fixed as well, unless that was a rust orange car that hit you. Take what you can, not totalled, unless (like stated above) you want it to be, then you can get the fair market value for the car, and sing all the way to the bank.

He came down and we put a clutch disc in, and installed a fuel pump. After he pulled it out of the garage and test drove it, I took it for a quick spin not quarter mile away and deer jumped in front of me. It was so close to the house that he heard the impact. We'll post some pics, she's pretty tore up. deer **** and blood and gut were on the car. The worst possible thing that could have happened. Gotta get to work fixin it after the roads get better and he replaces to clutch slave, which will be hard to do b/c the hood won't open, the hood is unscathed, amazingly enough so is the bumber, the fender bent in and twisted, and the front left fender pushed way back. We got all the parts to fix it, I have a brand new out of box fender and rust free header panel.
Yeah, AAA totalled mine after the oak tree swiped me with a branch, and with the settlement and the buyback I came out with $1600 to play with for repairs. $20 headlight and $15 power antenna are in, now I gotta do some light bodywork this summer.

Thats totally not bad at all.
Pop the fender out yourself, after removing it. Get your wheel re-aligned, and find someone who knows someone who works at a bodyshop, and get yourself a deal on paint.

I suppose you guys in the midwest think you have a hard time 'cause you gotta drive on ice. Well, it's tough out here in sunny California too, you know. I was driving peacefully down a country road at 60mh when an oak tree decided to let go of a branch and drop it on my blue 83! Knocked off the headlight and power antenna and scratched up the fender, too. You gotta be tough to live here.

The strut assembly and a arm that need to be replaced I'm guessing. Measured the distance from the strut assembly to the rotor on each tire; it was about 1/4" less on the hit side causing the tire to rub.
