I'm stumped...need some carb help
Ok, I'm expecting a new stock carb for my 7 and while waiting for it I got brave and did a rebuild on the one I have now. It was full of gunk!!
After putting it back together wrong the first time, forgot to put choke handle in proper position
, I also realized my float levels were off and I didn't mess with them. So I take it apart get everything back together, properly or so I think, and turn it on to make sure fuel is filling properly in front float bowl, and it is woohoo.
Well the car runs for a few seconds and dies, no problem just getting some of the carb cleaner out, or so I think. I pop the cover off from the air cleaner and I see fuel just pouring out out of the secondaries. Why would it be doing that?

there is a selenoid right under the fuel intake hoses. believe it has a single black wire. make sure that is plugged in. if not the fuel will not re-rout to the tank and overflow the carb. if that is plugged in then give the top of the carb a good tap with the butt of a screw drive(sometimes the floats stick while putting back together).
The solenoid was already plugged in, but I did double check and it was. Some bare wire is showing but everything is intact. I actually gave the carb a tap with a hammer
and its still leaking fuel out the secondaries and primaries.

pull off your return fuel hose and see if fuel is going back. if not the selenoid is bad. if so, check the floats. i believe turning the top plate over the floats should free hang about 5/8 from the plate. good luck

I took apart the top part of the carb while it was still attached to the car and put it back together; now it seems to not do it anymore but when I push on the gas now I don't see any fuel being spit out into the primaries.
Man this carb crap is frustrating

Update in the last 20min:
Ok, it's now definitely not doing what it was before, so that's good. Now I get everything back together get her started up and it runs but sounds like refried hell. I give it some gas and it bogs and even when it starts to die I mash the gas and it bogs and completely dies.
Sounds like a vacuum leak but I have almost all new hoses in the engine. Other details of note, I did a partial rats nest removal. I left the air pump and all associated hoses with it. Basically I just took out the metal mess that was on top of the engine and followed the instructions as per the tutorial on that one website. This is so frustrating, I feel like taking the car for a long drive off a short road with a cliff!

Another update:
Had the car running and it sounded a smidge better but it still didn't seem right. It was blowing blue smoke and eventually died. I pop the cover off teh air cleaner again and both barrells were completely full of fuel
and it was still filling. I'm officially giving up on this carb and waiting for the "new" stock carb to come in on Tuesday and hopefully will have the car running properly.
