Exclamation I'm scared! of hayes rotary

My exhaust manifold went out and this coming friday I am having Hayes rotary, a shop in redmond washington replace it.
I have heard a lot of bad things from the quality of work Hayes produces,, did I make a big mistake bringing my car there? *cowering*

why cant you replace it yourself?? if you already have the parts and simple tools, i learned the hard way with hayes i wouldnt trust them to replace spark plugs. id probialy end up getting old used ones that are all fouled.

How did your exhaust manifold "go out"?

As far as the people in the Northwest, not many of them think very highly of Hayes Rotory. Do you go into the Northwest section of this forum much?? Hayes has been the topic of many a thread.

If all you need is an exhaust manifold I have one for every year 1st gen. If you can get out here you can have for free, just come and get it. Hell I'll even drive it over to you to keep your car out the Hayes Rotory garage.

If it wasnt your actual cast mainolf mabe it was your gasket behind there. As ryan and rx7passion already said, its pretty easy to fix that. the gaskets can be ordered from racing beat and be on your door step within 4-5 days. go get your car and tell them you decided the car wasnt worth having fixed, bring it home and do it your self.

Wow, for free? Well I have 1980 rx. What kind of condition is the manifold in? Cause I think Hayes located a used one so it will be cheaper for me to replace(probably from the dumpster out behind their shop). But anyway, where do you live? Cause my appointment to bring the car to Hayes isn't until Friday.
Thanks Ryan

with all this turmoil towards hayes i would defanitly avoid it. if you are going to try them make sure to quetion warranties, and what EXACTLY they are going to do...also notice there profesionallism and whether or not they blow you off!

Ok, guys let me check in with you here. A 80 rx has a thermoreactor right? So, there is a whole lot more than a gasket to go wrong. And, a used one that is not trash is hard to come by.

How about taking the next step to a header?
