Ignition theory...?

I was thinking about this the other day, and I want to know what you guys think about this possible idea for an ignition system setup.

If I am thinking correctly, at "top dead center" for a rotary, the apex seal is just crossing the leading spark plug, correct? I.E. the engine looks like what it shows under "compression" on the above picture.

What if we were able to use an AC coil and simply have the leading plug firing at all times? At my dad's work there is a large gas oven that uses a spark plug to fire. This spark plug, when in "start" mode, is ignited constantly. Imagine a spark plug that never shuts off.

Wouldn't this: a) give optimal ignition timing at all times and b) cause a very clean combustion cycle?

At TDC, the rotor is flat against the rotor housing (like the "power" picture above).

You can't just continually fire leading as you would ignite the mixture too early. You could fire multiple sparks after the normal leading spark (as with MSD) or you can fire a late leading spark as with the direct fire setups (DLIDFIS, 2GCDFIS).

Theories are great; we always learn something from them, even when they don't pan out.
