Ignition Switch problem, 1985 GSL

hey guys,

Im having a small problem with my 1985 gsl. When i go to turn off the car sometimes, i will turn the key all the way back, pull it out and the car will still be running. If i kill the motor with the clutch then all the warning lights will just stay on. The radio will still turn on and off with the key though. any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Try to see if you can pull the key out at slightly different degree angles and check the results. Most likely it's time for a new switch.

Definitely time for a new switch. Get one from autozone. $132.00. CSK/O' Reilly does not have the right one. I just had to return mine from CSK and order one from Autozone.

If the switch has indeed failed, PM me, I have spares.

What do you do if the switch has failed and also the lock cylinder is bad?

My key freely rotates inside my lock cylinder - doesn't click or activate at "on" "acc" etc.

Is this a lock cylinder problem or a switch problem?

Nobody sells the lock cylinders.
