did you do anything different just before it shut off (ie: turn on an accessory or something)? if so, start there, otherwise bust out the trusty volt\ohm meter and get crackin', gremlins are inherent in these cars. take a look at the chassis grounds also.

Ignition Coil & Tach. Problem..

Ok, i bought a 81' RX-7 yesterday for $500.00, the guy had told me it hits and misses, so whatever, i went to go start it and no go. Checked the spark, none on the leading, and the trailing is fine. Wires, Plugs, Dis. cap and rotor are brand new, coils are new. Checked the power to the coils both are getting power (compared the wires of them both btw each other). But is in decent shape the body is in better then the one i bought a couple weeks ago, is a 83' RX-7 but got it for $2150.00, the engine was rebuilt in this one and it goes real good like, some pretty bad rust holes in the rear wells though, but the interior is in pretty good shape.

One other question, the tach. in the 83' doesnt work. Its getting power, i can tell that it is becuase when I turn the key on it twiches a bit. All the fuses are good, checked them twice or thrice times.

Anyways im going to go mess around with the 81' to see what i can do to get it going. Perhaps switch the wires from the one coil to the other and see what happens.
Thanks for the help its much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum greeddennis. Since you are new, I'll let you know that this is considered a "highjacking" of a thread (jumping into someone else's conversation). What you should do, is go back one page and use the THREAD STARTER button to begin your own topic. You will recieve much more help this way, and avoid pissing anyone off by jumping into their thread with your own questions....

No harm done though, we were all new once (except maybe Innitab)...

You need to start by verifying that you have two things; Spark, and Fuel.
