Ignition Problem
Here is my problem regarding my 84 GSL (12A), it likes to alternate between the two conditons below:
1. Loss of power/poor acceleration and the idle will drop to 250rpms.
2. Power comes back and car will idle around 1k rpms.
I started looking at the lead ignition system as the culprit. I put a different igniter on it but this did not help. This was a used one so it is possible it my not be up to par, I do however have about 5 others to choose from. I connected a timing light to the leading plug wire and could not get a signal, but could on the trailing. I tried the wire off the coils and the same situation.
Being this is as far as I have gotten, it seems I need to check the coil wire, coil and the igniter again.
So until I get a little time to look at it again, I figured I would seek some opinions from others.
